County of Hawai‘i, through the Department of Water Supply, seeks a skilled energy management professional to plan, research, analyze, develop, and implement energy savings programs for water systems in Hilo.

The role serves as a lead on energy issues, coordinating with electric utilities, tracking consumption, and reporting forecasts and project performance to the Water Board. A bachelor's in engineering and four years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering.
  • Four years of professional energy planning, services, management, or conservation experience.
  • Valid State of Hawai‘i Driver License (Class 3) at time of filing.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks energy use monthly and yearly; analyzes energy consumption for water pumpage and usage.
  • Manages data input and report generation for electric utility and pumpage data; develops SOPs for accurate utility info.
  • Researches missing or inconsistent electric utility data and liaises with the electric utility on data issues.
  • Reports to the Water Board on forecasted energy expenditures, projects, and related items.
  • Participates in DWS strategic growth planning to consider energy expenditures in future projects.
  • Analyzes current electric utility rates and optimizes rate structures; collaborates with the utility on new rate structures.
  • Assists with ongoing non-revenue water loss programs and tests/pumps optimization.
