Progressive in Florida is seeking a Solar/PV engineer to support the design and integration of energy storage systems for large-scale projects. You will guide major components from concept through commissioning and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
The role requires 3+ years in solar/PV engineering, a Bachelor's in Engineering, and knowledge of battery storage designs and safety standards. You will review drawings, develop scopes of work, and travel up to 25% for project needs.
Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects
Identify inconsistencies in engineering drawings and implement corrective actions to improve design efficiency
Detect and resolve errors in engineering studies and recommend future improvements
Develop technical scopes of work for engineering and equipment contracts
Collaborate with project managers to support projects from initiation through completion
Influence and guide cross-functional project teams on engineering-related decisions
Track project progress, manage milestones, and proactively identify risks
Coordinate with suppliers to integrate major equipment into projects
Work with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and optimize system integration
Review equipment specifications, ensure clarity in procurement, and propose technical solutions
Support permitting efforts by understanding requirements and proposing compliant design improvements
Travel up to 25% for project-related activities
Bachelor's in Engineering (Preferably Electrical, has hired Mech or Civ with Solar/Battery experience)
3+ years of experience in Solar/PV engineering and/or construction
Strong knowledge in at least one of the following:
Battery storage system design
Familiarity with energy storage systems including battery chemistries and power conversion equipment
Understanding of lithium-ion battery safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA, NEC, etc.)
Ability to independently manage technical deliverables and problem-solve complex engineering issues
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Familiarity with IEC standards (61215, 61646, 61730)
Experience across both solar and energy storage project integration
Prior experience working in utility-scale renewable energy projects
Strong coordination experience with cross-functional and vendor teams
PMP, Blue Beam or AutoCAD would all be a plus.
