Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering a Project Intern position designed to develop hands-on experience in active energy generation projects, including wind, solar, and battery storage. The intern will coordinate tasks, collect data, and support reporting and documentation under experienced mentors.

The role splits time between office and active construction sites, providing exposure to utility-scale infrastructure and collaboration with engineers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Current student or higher as of Fall 2027.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week).

Responsibilities

• Support project tracking, reporting, and documentation.
• Participate in field visits to observe execution and safety practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, coordinators, engineers, and contractors.
• Learn development and construction processes for wind, solar, battery storage, and combustion turbine facilities.
• Complete tasks under supervision while following procedures and safety requirements.
