Job Description:

As an Energy Program Operations Analyst, you will support Stem's business activities regarding Grid and Demand Response programs and utility contracts. Your primary focus will be to assist in executing Stem's utility contracts and demand response programs with an emphasis on operational excellence. You will work closely with multiple internal groups and be exposed to Stem's business end-to-end, including process design, implementation, contract compliance, reporting, technical modeling, and settlement activities. You will help develop strategic plans for designing, implementing, and scaling DR programs within the company and with external stakeholders. The role requires a blend of business, technical, and executional expertise, and the ability to work across departments such as Sales, Product Development, and Analytics, as well as with external utility partners. You will report to the Grid Service Program Management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage program operational deliverables and deadlines, ensuring timely submission of materials for Stem's Grid and Demand Response programs.
  • Draft, document, implement, and improve scalable processes across teams for customer enrollment, portfolio performance validation, and financial settlement and billing for utility programs.
  • Create and execute tools (in Python, Excel, or SQL) to automate or simplify manual processes and reduce operational errors.
  • Identify and communicate operational risks; assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial activities, including data organization, billing, and payment verification.
  • Develop and monitor KPI performance metrics for energy storage systems in various programs/markets and communicate findings internally and externally.
  • Manage incoming requests, program updates, and ad-hoc tasks as needed.
  • Support operational initiatives and identify automation opportunities.
  • Assist Business Development, Sales, and other teams with program-related efforts.

Requirements:

  • Technical experience with advanced Excel modeling, programming, or analytic tools like Python and R.
  • Strong quantitative and technical skills.
  • Project planning experience with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects.
  • Multi-tasking ability and willingness to handle routine and exciting tasks.
  • Quick learner, capable of producing quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to track and summarize project and operations status.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, demanding high-quality performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Industry experience in energy and/or utility sectors.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, quantitative, or business discipline preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in renewables, battery storage, or demand response participation.
  • Wholesale market experience in PJM or NYISO preferred.
  • Experience with large data sets and analysis tools like Python, SQL, Salesforce, JIRA, Tableau is a plus.

Job Location:

  • Remote; Eastern time zone preferred.

Salary Range: $90,560.00 - $135,840.00
