Daksta is seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to support the energization, commissioning and turnover of a large-scale data center or mission-critical construction project.

The Energy Marshal will act as the primary authority for electrical energization and stored-energy safety, coordinating with the General Contractor, electricians, commissioning teams, vendors and the client to ensure safe installation, testing and control of energized systems.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in electrical construction, commissioning, safety or energy-control roles.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety requirements and LOTO practices.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and project specs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Electrical Energization Safety Program for the project.
  • Coordinate energization, de-energization and stored-energy activities across the site.
  • Review and approve Lockout/Tagout plans, switching procedures and energization documentation.
  • Organize pre-energization meetings, readiness reviews and system walkdowns.
  • Ensure personnel working on energized systems are trained and authorized.
  • Verify inspections, testing, QA/QC and commissioning activities are completed before energization.
  • Oversee contractor and vendor risk assessments and safe work plans.
  • Maintain energization schedules, permits, LOTO records and site safety documentation.
  • Provide energization training and safety orientations to project personnel.

Job description

This is a onsite role. We are seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to support the safe energization, commissioning and turnover of a large-scale data center or mission-critical construction project.

About the Role

The Energy Marshal will act as the project’s primary authority for electrical energization and stored-energy safety. This individual will coordinate closely with the General Contractor, electrical subcontractors, commissioning teams, vendors, safety personnel and the client to ensure all systems are safely installed, tested, energized and controlled in accordance with project procedures, NFPA 70E, OSHA requirements and LOTO standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the project-specific Electrical Energization Safety Program.
  • Coordinate all energization, de-energization and stored-energy activities across the project.
  • Review and approve contractor Lockout/Tagout plans, switching procedures, Method of Procedures and energization documentation.
  • Organize and lead pre-energization meetings, readiness reviews and system walkdowns.
  • Verify that all personnel working on or near energized equipment are appropriately trained, qualified and authorised.
  • Confirm all required inspections, testing, QA/QC documentation and commissioning activities are complete before energization.
  • Review electrical contractor and vendor Activity Hazard Analyses, risk assessments and safe work plans.
  • Verify approved coordination studies are available and arc-flash labels have been installed correctly.
  • Ensure appropriate boundaries, signage, barriers, permits and access controls are established around energized systems.
  • Oversee absence-of-voltage verification and ensure testing equipment is suitable, calibrated and used correctly.
  • Maintain energization schedules, system status logs, permits, LOTO records and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams during startup, functional testing, integrated systems testing and turnover.
  • Monitor compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, client standards and project-specific electrical safety procedures.
  • Stop work where unsafe conditions, procedural failures or uncontrolled energy hazards are identified.
  • Support incident investigations, corrective actions and lessons-learned activities relating to energization or stored energy.
  • Provide electrical safety orientations and energization training to project personnel.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience within electrical construction, commissioning, electrical safety or energy-control roles.
  • Previous experience working as an Energy Marshal, Electrical Safety Manager, Electrical Commissioning Manager, Authorised Person or LOTO Coordinator is preferred.
  • Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, semiconductor facilities, advanced manufacturing plants or other complex industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA electrical safety requirements, LOTO and safe energization practices.
  • Experience reviewing switching procedures, energization plans, MOPs, risk assessments and commissioning documentation.
  • Good understanding of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, coordination studies and project specifications.
  • Strong communication, leadership and documentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Qualified Electrical Worker certification or training
  • Electrical licence or recognised electrical qualification
