Job summary

Southern California Edison is seeking an Energy Management System (EMS) Development Specialist to support and enhance critical grid applications within the ADMS environment, enabling real-time visibility and control of the electric grid. You will work on system integrations, automation, and application development initiatives that advance grid modernization and reliability.

You will develop and maintain automated monitoring, validation, and diagnostic tools to improve system performance and data

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, implementing, maintaining, and supporting utility grid applications.
• Experience with EMS/ADMS or SCADA platforms.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming for automation (e.g., Python, Java, SQL).

Responsibilities

• Provide operations support, troubleshooting, integration testing and user training for grid applications.
• Monitor energy usage data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
• Support testing and deployment of new grid application releases.
• Identify trends and root causes of issues and recommend solutions.
• Update and maintain grid application reliability, telemetry, and controls.
• Develop actions plans to prevent future system issues.
• Maintain project KPIs and support power system modeling and real-time operations.

In this job, you’llsupport and enhance critical grid applications within our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) environment, helping ensure reliable, real-time visibility and control of the electric grid. More specifically, you’ll develop and maintain automated monitoring, validation, and diagnostic tools to improve system performance, data quality, and operational efficiency across grid applications.

Responsibilities

• Provides operations support, troubleshooting, integration testing and user training. Performs technical analysis to define grid application requirements and updates.
• Monitors and analyzes energy usage data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Supports the testing and implementation of new grid application releases.
• Identifies trends and root causes of issues, determines solutions, and makes recommendations for management consideration.
• Updates, monitors and maintains the reliability of the grid application advance apps, and control application.
• Identifies and implements actions plans to prevent future system issues.
• Configures and modifies grid application databases and ensures that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate.
• Provides engineering support to grid operations by resolving complex issues via implementation of state-of- the art and new technologies.
• Updates, monitors project KPIs and maintains power system modeling, state estimator, contingency analysis and power flow analysis supporting real-time operations.
• A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in designing, building, implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex utility, real-time or enterprise systems, or as a user of a utility grid application.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Energy Management Systems (EMS), ADMS, or SCADA platforms, such as GE eTerra, PowerOn Reliance, or similar grid control systems.
• Experience developing or modifying application code, scripts, or configurations supporting system integrations, data flows, or automation (e.g., Java, Python, SQL, or similar technologies).
• Experience automating operational processes and workflows through scripting or tooling to improve system efficiency, reliability, and data quality across grid applications.

Additional Information

• This position’s work mode ishybrid.The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work andreside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

• This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.
