Universal Technical Institute is seeking an Electrical & Electronics Instructor in Houston, TX. You will inspire and educate students, lead hands-on demonstrations, and help diagnose and repair electromechanical systems.

You’ll collaborate with the education team to enhance courses and mentor students on their projects. The role emphasizes safety, effective communication, and student success in a hands-on learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must meet ACCSC standards for instructors.
• Maintain required technical certifications and state licensing.
• 3 years practical work experience (excludes teaching).

Responsibilities

• Inspire and Educate:Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where students can flourish, fostering their passion for electrical components while imparting your expert knowledge.
• Hands‑On Training:Lead by example and provide practical demonstrations, ensuring students gain real‑world experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing various systems.
• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with our education team to enhance existing courses and develop new ones that align with industry trends and advancements.
• Mentorship:Guide and mentor students on their individual projects, encouraging them to think critically and find innovative solutions.
• Safety First:Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for students.

Quaifications

Requirements

Must meet ACCSC standards for instructors, achieve and maintain required technical certifications and state specific licensing requirements as a condition of employment

Education / Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years practical work experience (excludes teaching).
• Teaching experience a plus

• Ability to instruct students of various ages and diverse backgrounds
• Able to work productively and communicate effectively with students and new employees
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be able to deal responsibly with confidential information
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel required)
• Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service orientation
• Must be initiative‑taking
• Must be able to work alone or with a team
• Familiar with climb and rescue gear and how to manipulate the safety features

Abilities

• Must be able to instruct two consecutive courses per workday; number of hours will vary based on campus location and program (applies to campuses with ADT II curriculum)
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds for short periods of time during the workday
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for short periods of time during the workday
• Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn, and reason for all the workday
• Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
• Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
• Must be able to climb a vertical ladder (20 to 30 feet high) and work hands free while suspended and deploying safety gear during the workday.

Work Environment

• Majority of time spent in education environment
• Appropriate safety measures must be followed
• Exposure to chemicals that are standard to the industry
• Work may be completed while suspended at heights of 20 to 30 feet.
• This position is Onsite
