Job summary

McKinstry is seeking an Energy Engineer Intern to join the DER team in Denver, CO for Summer 2027. You will perform solar production models, analyze energy bills, and support sustainable projects nationwide with hands-on mentorship and real project exposure.

Ideal candidates are pursuing or holding an Engineering degree related to Energy & Building Systems, possess strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. Travel regionally may be required; compensation is $24/hour.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing or have a degree in Engineering, Energy & Building Systems, or a related field.
• Junior student standing or higher required.
• Willingness to travel regionally to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform solar production models.
• Analyze customer electric bills.
• Supporting sustainable projects across the Country.
• Archiving and filing of completed projects.
• Researching rebate trends.
• Utilizing both manual and packaged calculations software.
• Preparing energy savings reports.
• Other duties as assigned.
