  • Present conservation information via displays, workshops, and community outreach.
  • Answer questions on energy use and provide assistance.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases for program performance.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Identify and evaluate new funding opportunities and grants.
  • Prepare annual reports for SECO and EIA compliance.
  • Prepare department budget and maintain procedures; SME for energy.

Job Summary

Under general direction and using working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures, implements programs to promote and provide energy conservation services.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the planning, implementation, and administration of energy & water conservation and incentive programs.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates energy audits of commercial and residential customers.
  • Coordinates and administers conservation and rebate programs which may include air conditioning rebates, energy efficient lighting, and renewable energy.
  • Assists the manager with development and coordination of customer energy savings program materials and marketing information.
  • Participates in setting up displays or workshops, classes, public information programs, and conservation presentations.
  • Investigates and/or answers consumer/citizen questions regarding energy use and provides assistance.
  • Maintains accurate records and databases for efficient program performance.
  • Completes other job duties as assigned.
Senior Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator
  • Responsible for identifying and evaluating new funding and grant opportunities and providing comprehensive support throughout the proposal development and submission process.
  • Completes annual reports to ensure compliance with energy reporting regulations, including but not limited to The State Energy Conservation Office ( SECO ) and the US Energy Information Administration ( EIA ).
Lead Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator
  • Responsible for preparation of the departmental budget.
  • Creates and maintains all procedures and written instructions for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation department and serves as the subject matter expert ( SME ) concerning energy efficiency and conservation for BPUB .
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator
  • May provide training and guidance to less experienced staff members. May assume the duties and responsibilities of other divisional staff as needed.
Lead Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator
  • Provides leadership, training, and guidance to departmental staff and may serve as a team lead for assigned areas as needed. May assume the duties and responsibilities of the assigned supervisor or manager in their absence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge important to perform the functions of the job include:

  • Knowledge of energy conservation principles and practices, including principles and practices of lighting, weatherization, waste heat recovery, and indoor climate control.
  • Knowledge of state law and regulatory codes applicable to energy use, energy efficiency, and Demand-side management, including the use of common utility benefit/cost ratio tests.
  • Knowledge of electric generation technologies and common electrical terms.
  • Knowledge of BPUB electric rates and bill calculations.
  • Knowledge of electric safety.
  • Knowledge of vendor and consultant performance management.

Skills important to perform the functions of the job include:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English; Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong planning skills to develop and implement an energy conservation program.

Abilities important to perform the functions of the job include:

  • Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals and circumstances
  • Ability to schedule activities.
  • Ability to work with detailed information/data.
  • Ability to conduct research to remain current in conservation trends, practices, and regulations.

  • Ability to enforce contract provisions, including implementing and administering contracts and purchase orders.
Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, business administration, or a related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in utilities, customer relations, program experience, or project management, are required.

Experience in applied energy efficiency design or construction with residential building systems is preferred.

Senior Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator

One (1) additional year of experience is required.

Lead Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator

Two (2) additional years of experience are required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy.

Certification in energy auditing, energy management or resource conservation is preferred, but not required.

Senior Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator

Must be an Energy Efficiency Practitioner, Business Energy Professional, or a Certified Renewable Energy Professional.

Lead Energy Efficiency & Conservation Coordinator

Must be a HERS Rater, Certified Energy Auditor, Certified Water Efficiency Professional or currently possess a related, equivalent certification.
