Job summary
West Work is seeking an Energy Designer to work on both residential renovation and new construction projects in Boston. The role emphasizes deep energy retrofits, energy modeling, and high-performance assemblies to improve occupant health and durability.
You will collaborate with Project Managers to integrate sustainability through feasibility, design, and construction phases. For new construction, the position may lead Passive House feasibility studies and support or lead Phius project
Qualifications
- NAAB-accredited Architecture degree or professional Mechanical Engineering degree.
- 5–8 years of experience in architecture, building science, or sustainability consulting.
- CPHC certification or willingness to complete within 6 months.
- Knowledge of energy modeling software and BIM tools.
Responsibilities
- Guide energy code pathways for multifamily buildings.
- Develop decarbonization studies and benchmark utility data.
- Document building envelope and energy strategies.
- Lead Passive House/EP Green Communities/LEED certifications.
- Manage Mass Save documentation and funding applications.
- Draft energy model reports and analyze results.
- Collaborate with design teams across feasibility to construction.
