Job description

RemoteVA is seeking a detail-oriented Energy Analyst to conduct building energy audits and perform HVAC-focused energy modeling for multifamily and light commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in energy efficiency analysis, HVAC systems, and building performance modeling. You will play a key role in quantifying energy savings, developing accurate reports, and supporting submissions for utility and state energy efficiency incentive programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform energy audits and HVAC analysis for residential and commercial buildings.
  • Collect and validate field data to establish accurate energy baselines.
  • Build baseline vs. proposed energy models to quantify savings (kWh, therms, MMBtu).
  • Develop technical reports for incentive program submissions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to verify assumptions and ensure report accuracy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in energy auditing, HVAC analysis, or building performance modeling.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, load calculations, and energy codes.
  • Proficiency with Excel and energy modeling software (e.g., eQUEST, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Must be available to work 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM EST on a consistent schedule.
