Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor of the Land Use and Public Services Unit, the Energy Analyst (EA) serves as part of an interdisciplinary team to assist in the planning and implementation of the California Energy Commission’s Siting, Transmission, and Environmental Protection (STEP) Division’s programs. The Energy Analyst will perform work of average difficulty in a wide variety of consultative and analytical tasks associated with the certification, environmental review, and compliance verification of complex energy facility projects, policy, and planning studies in accordance with the Warren-Alquist Act and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The Energy Analyst will focus on/conduct technical analyses on land use (including agricultural and forestry resources), socioeconomics (including population and housing, public services, and recreation), transportation, and visual resources (aesthetics). Work includes conducting the less difficult but somewhat complex tasks. The incumbent may assist a lead worker in performing the more difficult and complex projects.

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date.
