Job summary

Voyager Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Energetics Operator II for the 3rd shift at our Penrose/Pueblo, CO sites. You will run multiple machines, perform changeovers, train Operator I staff, and maintain quality and safety records on site.

This role requires compliance with hazardous materials and ITAR-related safety standards. The position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is on‑site in Penrose/Pueblo, CO, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Must be able and willing to work 3rd shift (8:30 PM–7:00 AM MDT).
• Hazardous material handling and explosive safety knowledge required.
• Follow complex instructions, batch sheets and travelers accurately.
• Maintain quality control documentation and operate equipment safely.
• Eligible to obtain State and Federal explosives licenses (21+).

The Energetics Operator II - 3rd shiftfor Voyager Technologies is responsible for supporting energetic production efforts. The Energetics Operator II - 3rd shift is an experienced production operator who can run multiple machines or complex processes with limited supervision. This role supports changeovers, minor troubleshooting, and mentoring of Operator I employees, while maintaining higher expectations for quality and throughput.

The position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is part of the Manufacturing and Operations team based in Penrose, CO/Pueblo, CO. This role is onsite based in Penrose, CO and Pueblo, CO.

In this role, the essential functions are:

• Independently operate one or more production lines or machines, following standard work and work instructions, meeting rate and quality targets.
• Perform in‑process inspections, use basic measuring tools, and document quality results.
• Assist with setups and changeovers, including tooling, fixtures, and basic parameter adjustments.
• Train and mentor Operator I employees on safe, effective operation and standard work.
• Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records in logs or ERP/MES.
• Follow safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards; participate in continuous improvement activities.
• Participate in training and cross‑training to learn additional operations as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be able and willing to work 3rd shift hours (8:30 PM - 7:00 AM MDT, Monday - Thursday)
• Working knowledge of hazardous material handling and explosive safety principles.
• Ability to follow complex instructions, batch sheets, and production travelers with accuracy.
• Awareness of quality control procedures and documentation requirements.
• Competence in operating mechanical or automated production equipment.
• Strong focus on detail, safety, and reliability in hazardous environments.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measuring tools (scales, gauges, etc.).
• Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses, including:
  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Pass State and Federal background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and six sigma methodologies

Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:

• Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods in an outdoor industrial environment
• Ability to work in a high-hazard explosive manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and explosives
• Ability to wear required PPE, including flame-resistant clothing and other safety equipment, and comply with site-specific requirements such as end‑of‑day showering
• Ability to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses
• Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug‑free workplace in compliance with the Drug‑Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101–8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug‑Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS 252.226‑7003 and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.
• To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Parts 120‑130) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730‑774), applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person: a US Citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3). Training Period

• Candidates hired for the 3rd shift position will complete an initial 30–45 day training period on 1st shift. During this training period, employees will be paid the 1st shift base rate of $24.00 per hour. Upon successful completion of training and transition to their assigned 3rd shift, the applicable 10% shift differential will be applied, increasing the hourly rate to $26.40 per hour.

The good faith hourly range for this role on 3rd shift is $26.40 – $26.40 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
