Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Process Engineer to support the Rocket Motor Case Prep Process Engineering team at the Promontory, Utah Plant. The role involves developing and improving manufacturing processes and working with operations to ensure on-time production.
The candidate will perform root cause analysis, document PFMEA worksheets, and present technical results to teams and customers. Travel is possible, and a competitive salary range is offered.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Process Engineer to support our Rocket Motor Case Prep Process Engineering team at our Promontory, Utah Plant.
Developing and improving manufacturing processes
Spending time in the operations area observing and monitoring rocket motor case prep processes
Performing cause and corrective action activities to permanently eliminate defects using root cause analysis tools
Working with concurrent engineering teams to ensure proper documentation and on-time production
Authoring, updating and reviewing shop floor work instructions
Preparing and presenting technical presentations to technical teams, leadership, and to customers for review and approval
Performing table top reviews
Using SPC tools to ensure process control
Developing and incorporating process improvements
Troubleshooting production/tooling/facility issues and implementing improvements and solutions
Supporting design, checkout, qualification and implementation of new or modified tooling or equipment
Accurately documenting and scoring Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) worksheets
Bachelor’s degree STEM with 2 years of professional experience — OR — Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience.
Self-Starter that takes initiative to complete tasks and assignments with little supervision
Good problem-solving skills and strong oral and written communication skills
Good organization and multi-tasking skills
Interpreting blueprints and specifications
Excellent computer skills. Skilled in working with Microsoft Office applications and business database systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques
Experience writing shop work instructions
Experience working with energetic materials and processes
Strong inter-personal and Customer Service Skills
Experience in working with composite materials
Process Controls (SPC)
Experience with insulation / rubber processes
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 – $118,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
