Job summary

Valor is seeking an Energetic Material Lead Industrial Technician to join our manufacturing team in Grand Junction, CO. You will lead blending and handling of energetic powders, track inventory, and perform analysis such as calorimetry and particle size tests, while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

The role supports NPI activities, process improvements, and documentation of new manufacturing processes in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status required.
  • Must pass pre- and post-hire background checks.
  • Must pass drug screenings.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Experience with propellants, explosives, or related regulated processes preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and/or assist in blending and handling energetic powders in bulk quantities
  • Track and document energetic powder inventory to meet production needs
  • Perform routine powder characterization and analysis, including but not limited to, calorimetry and particle size analysis
  • Maintain strict safety and quality standards throughout the powder blending process
  • Assist in developing manufacturing processes
  • Verify manufacturing processes using inspection techniques, data collection, measurement, as directed
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and requirements
  • Work on tasks individually or as part of a team
  • Manage time efficiently to accomplish assigned tasks on time
  • Assist in process capability studies, efficiency studies, or other process engineering activities
  • Assist in process improvement efforts
  • Participate in FMEA, PFMEA, Design Review, and other Engineering activities/functions
  • Assist in engineering sustainment activities to support ongoing Manufacturing operations – to include but not limited to: restoring manufacturing processes to operation following failures or machine breakdowns, participating in process improvement efforts, providing training to others, updating process documentation, etc.
  • Provide information for documentation of new manufacturing processes
  • Participate in NPI (New Product Introduction) activities as necessary and as directed
  • Uphold Valor standards and specifications
  • Maintain accurate records of production data and lot traceability
  • Read and follow all written work instructions
  • Wear standard-issued uniform, footwear, and personal protective equipment in the designated workspace (ELR)
  • Support NPI efforts as directed for entire product life cycle
  • Support Lean 5S initiatives to achieve a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity

Energetic Material Lead Industrial Technician
Hiring Range

$29.95 - $33.69 per hour; the role is full-time, strictly onsite, and non-exempt. All overtime is subject to prior approval. The wage offered will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.

Regular Schedule

A set shift Monday through Thursday; overtime and shift changes are subject to prior approval.All employees are required to take two paid fifteen-minute rest breaks daily during every ten-hour shift and are entitled to a thirty-minute meal break daily.

This position requires use of information and data which is subject to US Export Regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), 22 C.F.R. 120 et seq., and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), 15 C.F.R. 730 et seq. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S Government.

Minimum Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder
  • Must pass all pre and post hire background checks
  • Must pass preemployment and subsequent drug screenings
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • Maintain Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives “Employee Possessor” eligibility and Federal Prohibitor status regarding ?rearms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience with basic fabrication
  • Two or more years of experience working in the manufacturing industry
  • Five or more years of experience working with propellants, explosives, metal forming, machining, electro‑mechanical assembly, process development, welding, metal coatings, or chemical processes
  • Five or more years of experience working in a highly regulated environment such as FDA, Defense/Aerospace, Automotive, or other
  • Related and relevant work experience may be substituted with Associates of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent industry experience in a related field
