Job summary

La Causa, Inc. Charter School is hiring a Physical Education Teacher (K5–8) to design and deliver a standards-based PE program aligned with Wisconsin standards. The role focuses on energetic, engaging instruction and a safe, supportive learning environment for all students.

The candidate will plan weekly lessons, assess progress, and collaborate with families and staff. A bachelor’s in physical education and WI DPI licensure are required or eligible for an emergency license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physical education or a closely related field.
• Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license in the applicable area or ability to obtain a License with Stipulation (Emergency License).
• Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong classroom and activity management skills.
• Positive, energetic, welcoming personality with a genuine enjoyment of working with students and others.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed based on program needs.
• Must successfully pass all required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a grade-level appropriate Physical Education curriculum aligned with Wisconsin State Academic Standards.
• Develop weekly lesson plans aligned with Wisconsin State Physical Education Standards and submit plans as directed by the administration.
• Administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate student growth in physical education skills and knowledge.
• Provide engaging, energetic, and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in grades K5–8.
• Establish strong relationships with students and maintain a secure, safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment.
• Implement effective classroom and activity management strategies to promote student safety, participation, and positive behavior.
• Promote the importance of physical health, physical activity, fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, administrators, and other school personnel regarding student needs and progress.
• Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and school policies.
• Contribute as a collaborative and supportive team member.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
