Job summary

Renown Health in Reno, NV is seeking an Endoscopy Technician I to support the GI endoscopy team. You will assist in colonoscopies and EGD, ensure sterile fields, and handle endoscope reprocessing under supervision.

The role requires 0-1 years of endoscopy experience and completion of a skills checklist within 6 months; CPR certification is required upon hire, with SGNA certification pursued within 6 months. This is a hands-on role supporting patient care in the endoscopy unit.

Qualifications

• Experience: preferred at least 1 year in endoscopy or clinical setting (GI clinic, sterile processing, OR).
• Completion of Endoscopy Technician Skills & Equipment Checklist within 6 months of hire.
• SGNA Associates Program Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Current CPR certification by AHA standards required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in endoscopy procedures and assist physicians, R.N. and team.
• Prepare procedure room and sterile field for GI procedures.
• Assist with endoscope reprocessing and maintenance of endoscopes and accessories.
• Transport patients and equipment; stock and maintain supplies.
• Collaborate with Renown endoscopy team and uphold infection control in GI setting.

Job description

Position Purpose

This position provides patient care of a diagnostic and therapeutic technical nature, performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures that support and assist the work of the physician, R.N. and Endoscopy Team for optimal patient care. Responsible for the supplies and care of instrumentation before, during, and after endoscopy procedures.

Nature and Scope

The Endoscopy Technician I functions as a beginner level technician in the endoscopy unit. The incumbent has 0-1 years of endoscopy experience and are trained in all aspects of general GI procedures and endoscope reprocessing. They are confident, competent, and independent working in colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) procedures. They have an in-depth knowledge of basic GI and assist the nurses and physicians in providing care during general GI procedures and with other tasks in the endoscopy unit. They have complete competencies for all basic GI procedures and are competent in all aspects of endoscope reprocessing. The Technician I also supports the area with duties that include but are not limited to preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment including gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant. The job also includes transportation of patients and equipment, stocking/maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories contributing to the daily functions of the unit. They exhibit the ability to collaborate with all members of the Renown endoscopy team and have a solid understanding of infection control in the GI setting.

This position does provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

• Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Documentation of Anatomy/Physiology class, microbiology class, and basic computer skills from an accredited institution preferred.

Experience:

• Preferred at least 1 year of experience in endoscopy or in a clinical setting, such as a GI clinic, sterile processing department, or operating room.

• Current CPR certification by AHA standards required upon hire.

• Completion of Endoscopy Technician Skills & Equipment Checklist
• SGNA Associates Program Certification

Computer / Typing:
