Job summary

The G.I. Technician at Olympia Fields Hospital (Prime Healthcare) assists during invasive GI procedures, handing sterilized instruments and scopes to the physician and supporting the scrub team.

Under the supervision of the GI RN and Surgical Services leadership, you will participate in patient care for adolescents to older adults, adhere to policies, and contribute to performance improvement efforts as part of the hospital's Total Rewards benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required or related experience.
  • Graduate of a GI training program or on-the-job GI experience (2+ years) preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Hand sterilized instruments, scopes and supplies to the physician during GI procedures.
  • Serve as scrub assistant to the physician and hands-off materials without delay.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, participate in Performance Improvement activities.

Overview

Schedule: 7am-3:30p


Responsibilities

The G.I. Technician is directly accountable to the G.I. RN, the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services and indirectly to the House Supervisor and the CNO/ Administrator. The G.I. Technician is responsible as the scrub assistant to the physician during invasive G.I. procedures. The G.I. Tech hands sterilized instruments, scopes and/or supplies to the physician during the procedure without unnecessary delay. Assist co-workers in the provision of continuous, quality patient care for adolescents, adults and older adults. Is responsible for adhering to regulations, standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities. Acts as a resource person for other personnel as appropriate.


Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING


1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.


2. Graduate of a training program or on the job training with a minimum of 2 years experience (GI setting) preferred.


3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $18.00 to $26.07. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
