Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join the Chestnut Surgery Center in Springfield, MA. You will assist in data collection, prep patients for sigmoidoscopy, and support physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures in a fast-paced gastroenterology setting.

The role requires ability to follow detailed instructions, strong hand-eye coordination, and the capacity to work patient- and team-focused.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET required.
• BLS certification required per Baystate Health standards.
• Hospital setting experience preferred (6–12 months).

Responsibilities

• Assists in collecting objective data for patient needs and vital signs.
• Processes specimens according to procedure guidance.
• Prepares patients for flexible sigmoidoscopy and enema administration.
• Documents via CIS; handles phone communications and filing.
• Assists physician and RN with the plan of care during procedures.
• Maintains room supplies and equipment; restocks as needed.
• Disinfects endoscopes, rooms and equipment; supports turnover.
• Provides endoscopy room support and responds to emergencies.
• Ensures a safe patient and staff environment per regulatory standards.
• Completes orientation and participates in performance-improvement activities.
