Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking an RN Specialist Endoscopy to manage nursing care in the Endoscopy unit and assist during procedures. This role emphasizes patient safety and comfort for procedures in a perioperative setting.

Requirements include ADN or BSN, Ohio RN license, and BLS/ACLS. Two years of nursing experience are expected; part-time, day shift, on-site in Akron, OH.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN) required.
• Two (2) years of nursing experience required.
• Current RN License in Ohio; Current BLS and ACLS certification (with 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for the endoscopy procedure.
• Assess the physical and psychological status of the patient, including pre-op vital signs.
• Report pre-op documentation and testing findings to the physician when necessary.
• Ensure all necessary consents and charting components are available and filled out correctly.
• Support the physician with endoscopic procedures.
• Competently use equipment, document and label specimens, and communicate relevant information.
• Ensure patients are stable and meet all requirements for safe discharge.
• Accurately complete post-operative documentation.
• Seek assistance from other resources to improve skills and knowledge in the Endoscopy unit.
• Identify unsafe practices and participate in seeking solutions.
