Job summary

GW Hospital, a 395-bed academic medical center in Washington, DC, seeks an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure recovery care are core duties.

The RN collaborates with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (DC or compact, must have by start date)
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-procedure assessments and patient education.
• Administer medications and moderate sedation per protocol.
• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to changes.
• Provide recovery and discharge teaching to patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to optimize workflow and patient safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards and hospital policies.
