Job summary

One GI is seeking an Endo Tech to provide high-quality patient care in our Virginia Beach and Chesapeake gastroenterology offices. You will help with procedures, patient check-in, and scope cleaning while following safety protocols.

The candidate should have a High School diploma, BLS certification, and prior medical office experience. Computer skills and aseptic technique knowledge are essential to daily tasks and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School graduate required.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• Previous experience with computers is required.
• Must possess knowledge of pulse oximetry and blood pressures, blood borne pathogens and aseptic techniques.
• BLS certification required.
• Must have sufficient strength to move carts and assist patients while walking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain linen and supply inventory, including par levels in procedure rooms.
• Set up and assist with procedures; verify equipment is appropriate and functional.
• Transport endoscopes safely and clean/ disinfect scopes between patients.
• Take and record vital signs; assist with patient check-in and escorting.

A Day in the Life of an Endo Tech with One GI:

General Tasks

• Maintain linen and supply inventory, including par levels in procedure rooms.
• Follow infection control protocols and standard precautions.
• Be aware of exposure risks (e.g., body fluids, disinfectants).
• Disinfect carts and equipment between patients.
• Handle equipment properly to avoid damage.
• Ensure a safe environment by complying with AAAHC, Medicare, OSHA, HIPAA, state, and federal regulations.
• Uphold ethical, professional, and legal standards in patient care.

Procedure Room

• Set up and assist with procedures.
• Verify equipment is appropriate and functional.
• Transport endoscopes safely.
• Collect and send specimens with correct documentation.
• Accurately document each procedure.

Scope Cleaning

• Operate scope washers and perform manual cleaning.
• Leak test, brush, and disinfect scopes.
• Monitor and record chemical levels per policy.
• Maintain logs for safety checks, repairs, and filter/disinfectant changes.
• Report any damage to the supervisor.

Patient Admission

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist with patient check-in and escorting.
• Support data collection to assess patient needs.

Education and Qualifications

• High School graduate required.
• Previous medical office experience is preferable.
• Previous experience with computers is required.
