The City of Toledo, IA is seeking a Full-Time EMT/AEMT/Paramedic to cover 24-hour shifts. EMTs may advance to paramedic; paramedic education is paid by the Toledo Ambulance Service.
Our EMS team serves Toledo and surrounding areas with a mix of paid and volunteer staff and operates with state‑of‑the‑art equipment. The role requires independent field work, professional interaction with patients and staff, and duties including vehicle/equipment checks, restocking and light station tasks.
The City of Toledo is seeking to fill a Full-Time EMT/AEMT/Paramedic position (24 hour shifts). EMT applicants must be willing to advance to the paramedic level. AEMT candidates will be strongly encouraged to advance to the paramedic level. Paramedic education will be paid for by the Toledo Ambulance Service. Our ambulance service provides emergent and non-emergent services to Toledo and the surrounding area with a combination of paid and volunteer staffing. Ambulances are equipped with the latest state of the art equipment including: CPAP/transport ventilators, LifePak15 Monitors, LUCAS devices and power load Stryker cots.
The position will have varying hours due to the dynamic nature of EMS. The position is under the general direction of the EMS Director but the ideal candidate must possess the ability to function independently in the field while providing a high standard of patient care in both the emergent and non-emergent setting. The ability to interact in a professional manner with patients, other staff members and the general public is a must. Other duties to include: vehicle/equipment checks, restocking, and other light station activities.
AEMT/ Paramedic certification in the State of Iowa; current BLS certification and valid Towa driver's license. ACLS and PALS provider certifications required of Paramedic Applicants. A safe driving record and insurable by the city. Mandatory Reporter training also required. Additional certifications and trainings, although not required, are a plus.
High school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of EMS and the operations of an advanced ambulance service. Knowledge of level specific pre-hospital medical care practices. Knowledge of county and city roads, landmarks, general use of maps, and route planning. Knowledge of Iowa traffic laws and regulations. Understanding of general HIPAA regulations.
Competitive hourly wage based on experience and certification level. IPERS retirement. | Uniform allowance and continuing education provided.
