Job summary

Hudson Regional Hospital in Bayonne, NJ is seeking a full-time EMT to provide emergency medical care, drive an ambulance, and assist with patient transport. You will communicate with dispatch via two-way radio, complete run sheets, and ensure safety and compliance before, during, and after calls.

Requirements include NJ EMT/EMP-P certification, AHA BLS, HazMat awareness, and NIMS 700 IC 100 CEVO II/III within 3 months. One year EMT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Renders emergency medical care to sick, disabled or injured individuals.
• Communicates with dispatch via two-way radio.
• Drives a licensed ambulance from scene to hospital.
• Completes run information forms documenting care provided.
• Inspects ambulance for safety before and after calls.
• Assists in cleaning, restocking and disinfecting after each call.
• Assures run sheets are complete with required information.
• Ensures AED batteries and portable suction are charged.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment or supply deficiencies.
• Adheres to policies and procedures on each response.
• Assesses need for additional services and requests accordingly.
• Makes decisions on patient care and hospital destination.
• Reads maps and knows State/County roadways.
• Maintains composure in stressful situations.

Education

One year EMT experience

NJ EMT/EMP-P Certified

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider

HazMat Training (awareness level or higher)

NIMS 700 IC 100 CEVO II / III

Full-Time Non Union Technical Bayonne, NJ, US

Salary Range: $21.00 To $28.00 Hourly

Job Specific Competencies:

Renders emergency medical care to sick, disabled or injured individual(s) based on signs, symptoms or complaints.

Communicates via two-way radio with dispatch

Assists in the transporting of a patient(s) with patients movement devices.

Drivers a licensed ambulance from the scene to a medical facility.

Completes run information form documenting the care provided to the patient.

Inspects the ambulance before and after calls for compliance with safety regulations

Participates in cleaning, restocking and disinfecting after each call.

Performs other duties as requested or required by EMS management.

Assures that each run sheet is completely filled out with all the required information.

Assures that the battery on each AED and portable suction unit is charged

Notifies a supervisor of any deficiencies regarding maintenance, equipment, or supplies

Have all medical release forms signed when applicable

Insures all policies and procedures are followed on each response

Assesses the need for additional services and makes the appropriate requests

Make decisions regarding patient care, hospital destination and use of services

Ability to read a map, knowledge of State, County and other public roadways.

Ability to perform duties in stressful and sometimes life-threatening situations

Ability to express understanding and compassion to patients and others in a crisis situation

Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and public.

Knowledge of NJAC Statue 8:40

Knowledge of other standards, rules, regulations, and policies related to EMS.

EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

One Year (1) EMT experience

CREDENTIALS + QUALIFICATIONS:

NJ EMT/EMP-P Certified

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider

HazMat Training at the awareness level or higher

NIMS 700 IC 100 CEVO II / III certification within 3 months of employment
