Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ St. Cloud VA Health Care System in Minnesota is seeking a Housekeeping Lead in Environmental Management Services.

The incumbent will supervise staff, oversee environment-of-care tasks, textile distribution, and training to meet EMS goals and patient safety standards. Responsibilities include directing daily work, coordinating with nurses and area supervisors, ensuring safety compliance, performing cleaning and room turnover, and providing on-the-job

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience showing ability to perform EMS duties; no specific years required.
• Screen-out element will be evaluated via online questionnaire; those not meeting it are ineligible.
• Physical requirements and safety considerations; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with PPE.

Responsibilities

• Leads three or more employees in performing housekeeping tasks.
• Communicates instructions from the Supervisor and validates completion of work.
• Coordinates projects with nurses and area supervisors to ensure timely completion.
• Trains employees on proper procedures to meet workload and safety goals.
• Reports progress and safety compliance to Supervisor and notes any policy infractions.
• Cleans areas including outpatient surgery, clinics, sterile areas, patient rooms, and offices.
• Uses dust mopping, damp mopping, waste handling, and cleans fixtures and surfaces as needed.
• Makes beds and turns mattresses.
• May lead textile distribution and inventory management; textile and PPE handling.
• Provides on-the-job training to all assigned employees.
