Job summary

College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy is seeking a vehicular repair technician in North Carolina. The role involves diagnosing and repairing ambulances and other vehicles, performing field repairs, and maintaining records. A CDL Class A license and EMS experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, equipment inspections, inventory upkeep, and rapid response to incidents. High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent technical education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Possess a valid NC CDL Class A license with clean driving history.
• Maintain Medical Card and other CDL documents.
• EMS credential or experience preferred.
• Secondary technical education or automotive repair experience preferred.

• Lubricate, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain ambulances, automobiles, and trucks.
• Make field repairs as needed and perform general tire work.
• Update manual and computerized records related to work activities.
• Keep abreast of changes to industry standards and best practices.
• Perform field or shop inspections to determine repair needs or cost estimates.
• Communicate status of repairs and fabrication work to supervisors.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of all supplies for units and bases.
• Respond to incidents as required and support safety initiatives.

Position Summary

Additional Skills:

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standards safety precautions necessary in the work and work site, operating principles of electric motors and engines fueled by gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuels, methods, materials, paint , tools, and techniques used in repair, maintenance, welding, and fabrication of heavy and light equipment as well as body and fender and mechanical repair work on a variety of municipal equipment, and the use and care of tools used in work.
• Positive interpersonal skills.
• Prior knowledge of EMS.
• Have effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Enforce and comply with department rules and regulations.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

Participates in creating a safety culture by optimizing safety at all times. Required Physical Activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Must be able to hear and communicate effectively. Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity to trace and repair color-coded wiring systems. Must have mobility to assume awkward positions. Must have mobility to respond quickly to emergency situations. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be able to bend and lift on a regular basis. Heavy work requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane contact with blood and other potentially infection material. Potential risk of exposure to communicable diseases.

Qualifications

Education, Formal Training, Licensure, Certifications, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current valid N.C. Class A CDL drivers license with a good driving history.
• Maintain Medical Card, Random Drug Screens and other CDL required Documents
• Two years experience in vehicle repair and troubleshooting
• EMS credential or experience preferred
• Secondary Technical Education or experience in the automotive repair field preferred.
