Job summary

Lancaster County Government is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide essential EMS care on a 24/72 schedule after the transition from 24/48. You will respond to calls, assist with trauma or illness, and support field operations across multiple stations and units.

The position requires EMT-B certification, a high school diploma, and a valid South Carolina driver’s license, with opportunities for training and state benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with EMT-B certification.
• Completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle operations training and Basic Life Support.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic level pre-hospital emergency medical care per protocols.
• Operate EMS vehicles and coordinate with dispatch.
• Assess patient condition and determine need for paramedic support.
• Communicate patient information to hospital staff.
• Maintain vehicles, equipment, and station facilities.
• Participate in ongoing training and maintain State certifications.
• Remain current in American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
• Collaborate with Police, Fire, Dispatch, and EMS partners.
