Job summary

State of Missouri is seeking a qualified counselor to help people with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment. You will use motivational interviewing, active listening, and strengths-based counseling to clarify goals and readiness for work.

Responsibilities include assessments, eligibility reviews, developing employment plans, coaching on resumes and interviewing, and coordinating with employers. Travel within the community is required, and a Master’s degree is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required from an accredited college in rehabilitation counseling, guidance and counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related field.
• Minimum educational requirements defined by the Code of Federal Regulations 361.18(C)(II)(A(1).

Responsibilities

• Utilize counseling techniques to guide people with disabilities toward meaningful employment.
• Build trusting relationships to encourage self-advocacy and informed decision-making.
• Conduct individualized assessments of interests, skills, barriers, and support needs.
• Review medical, psychological, and educational records to determine eligibility for services.
• Develop individualized employment plans for clients.
• Provide guidance on job searching, resumes, applications, interviewing, and workplace expectations.
• Help clients address barriers such as confidence, work history gaps, accommodations, and workplace adjustment.
• Coordinate with employers and community partners to create employment opportunities and promote retention.
• Maintain documentation and case notes in compliance with program and funding requirements.
• Draft authorizations for goods/services and verify services before payment.
• Travel within the community and for training as required.
