• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each student.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects communicated to students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, tailored to the location and needs of student groups.
• Strives to implement district philosophy of education and instructional goals.
• Assesses student progress regularly and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities in collaboration with district specialists as needed.
• Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains accurate records as required by policy and regulation.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules for student life and conduct.
• Makes provision to be available to students and parents outside instructional hours upon reasonable terms.
• Plans and supervises assignments for aides/volunteers and evaluates their performance with department heads.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
