Job summary

The Creekside School in San Jose, CA is seeking a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join a multidisciplinary team under a licensed SLP. You’ll help students with autism and developmental disabilities develop functional communication skills.

You’ll provide direct therapy in small groups and individuals, document progress, prepare materials, and collaborate with teachers and families to support each student’s learning and independence.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) program.
• Current California SLPA license or registration, as required.
• Knowledge of speech and language development and common communication disorders.
• Ability to implement treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized speech and language therapy plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students individually and in small groups.
• Support students in developing speech, language, social communication, and functional communication skills.
• Assist with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and communication strategies.
• Document student progress and maintain accurate therapy records.
• Prepare therapy materials and organize treatment activities.
• Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, families, and multidisciplinary team members to support student success.
• Reinforce communication goals throughout the educational environment.
• Participate in team meetings, IEP discussions as appropriate, and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with school policies, supervision requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
