Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in School Counseling from an accredited program.
• Completion of an approved graduate-level school counseling program.
• Valid NC Professional Educator’s License in School Counseling or eligibility.
• Successful completion of Praxis Professional School Counselor examination.
• Experience working with K–12 students preferred.
• Knowledge of ASCA model and NC standards.
• Background checks and fingerprint clearances completed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with NC standards and the ASCA National Model.
• Provide counseling services supporting academic, career readiness, and social‑emotional well‑being.
• Deliver individual, small‑group, and classroom counseling addressing diverse needs.
• Assist students with academic planning, career exploration, postsecondary preparation, and transitions.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, special education teams, and community providers.
• Participate in MDT meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and parent conferences as appropriate.
• Provide crisis intervention, referrals, and responsive services for students in need.
• Analyze student data to identify needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Maintain confidential student records per NCDPI, FERPA, IDEA, and district requirements.
• Advocate for a safe, inclusive school environment.
