Job summary

Wawasee Community School Corporation seeks a Mild Intervention Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities across elementary and secondary levels. You will develop and implement IEPs, adapt curricula, and collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusive practices.

The position requires an Indiana Teaching License with emotional handicapped certification and experience with emotionally handicapped students.

Qualifications

Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.
Experience working with emotionally handicapped students.
Ability to plan and organize.
Skills in human relations - Student-oriented.
Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

Responsibilities

Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility for LD/MiMD/Emotionally Disabled programs via tests, observations, and data interpretation.
Assist teachers, parents, and students with consultative services on strengths, weaknesses, and supports.
Develop and implement daily individual lesson plans based on IEP goals and objectives.
Adapt curriculum for students with disabilities to enable instruction and support career/academic planning.
Coordinate inclusion of students with disabilities in general education.
Develop and implement teaching strategies and behavior modification programs to foster motivation and appropriate behavior.
Participate in long-range planning and annual IEP development.
Coordinate case conferences and annual reviews with appropriate staff.
