Job summary

DREAM is seeking a high-capacity, student-centered Head Coach for our middle school competitive team. You will lead team culture, athlete development, safety, and program execution during practices and games, reporting to the Dean of Student Life and serving as on-site leader upholding DREAM expectations and youth development standards.

Coaches are key members of the Athletics team and ensure the continued excellence, safety, and impact of DREAM’s sports-based youth development programs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of coaching experience with youth preferred.
• Ability to lead youth programs with structure, accountability and care.
• Strong understanding of sport rules and strategy.
• Experience working with school-age children required.
• Ability to explicitly teach and model youth development competencies.
• Previous competitive playing experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead team culture and set expectations for behavior, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Establish a structured, positive team environment rooted in DREAM’s values.
• Model professionalism, preparedness, and sound judgment at all times.
• Develop athletes in teamwork, sportsmanship and self-regulation.
• Teach and reinforce skills through practices, games, and study halls.
• Lead behavior management with positive discipline.
• Oversee study hall program with supervision and accountability.
• Design high-quality, structured practice plans in advance.
• Facilitate engaging practices maximizing participation and development.
• Lead game-day strategy, roster management and team readiness.
• Maintain active supervision and safe transitions for all participants.
• Ensure safety protocols and athlete safety in all activities.
• Own safety of athletes and maintain real-time attendance.
• Communicate with Athletics Director about attendance and incidents.
• Recruit and sustain engagement of athletes; manage roster and family communications.
• Ensure program expectations are implemented with consistency.
