Hillsborough County Public Schools Lutz:Maniscalco K-8 School in Lutz, Florida seeks a Counselor for Middle School to implement a comprehensive school counseling program including academic advisement and personal/social development.

The role collaborates with administrators, teachers, and families, interprets student records for planning, and provides crisis counseling and community resource information as needed.

Qualifications

• Florida Professional Educator Certificate: Guidance and Counseling (Grades PK-12) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides an ongoing program of individual, small group, and large group counseling services in academic advisement, career awareness, and social/personal development.
• Consults and works collaboratively with administrators, teachers, school personnel, district personnel, parents, and community agencies to meet counseling and educational planning needs.
• Interprets and utilizes school records for educational planning.
• Addresses individual student needs and refers students to appropriate school and community resources.
• Provides preventive and responsive services, including crisis counseling as needed, and addresses student mental health needs.
• Facilitates parent involvement in education and conferences.
• Assists students in developing self-understanding and interpersonal skills.
• Provides information about community resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
