Job summary

The Maryland School for the Blind seeks a dedicated assistant to support classroom instruction and IEP implementation. You will help with curriculum development, data collection, and creating instructional materials for students with visual impairments.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal hygiene, supervising activities, and aiding travel skills development. Proficiency with assistive devices, computers, and iPads is expected, along with a commitment to safety and student well-being.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of an Associate Degree, 48 college credits, or a ParaPro Assessment.
• Bachelor's degree preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with developing and implementing instructional programs and IEPs.
• Support students with personal hygiene tasks and toileting.
• Supervise students during activities and field experiences (including pool as needed).
• Assist students with travel skills and concept development.
• Operate augmentative communication devices and assist with computer/iPad use.
• Provide vocational job coaching.
