SIDNEY HIGH SCHOOL is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities at Sidney High School, under the supervision of the Building Principal and Director of Operations. The position performs a variety of classroom support and student personal care services as directed under the supervision of a classroom teacher.

The role requires an Ohio Department of Education aide certificate and the ability to lift up to fifty pounds, among other qualifications.

Qualifications

• Ohio Department of Education aide certificate.
• Meets mandated state and federal qualification requirements.
• Must meet health requirements and pass background checks.
• Criminal background clear; no disqualifying violations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist students with disabilities.
• Willing to adapt to new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Checks with the teacher for instructions and works with small groups or individual students.
• Seeks advice when expectations are unclear and acquires basic proficiency in supportive skills.
• Monitors students on an emergency basis when the teacher is absent.
• Assists with student mobility and the use of assistive devices.
• Supports an inclusive environment for students with disabilities.
• Inspects safety devices and reports unsafe conditions immediately.
• Follows prescribed medical plans and assists with personal hygiene care as trained.
• Participates in crisis training to manage outbursts.
