Job summary

RSU 21 in the Kennebunkport area seeks an Anticipated Special Education Elementary Resource Room Teacher to provide specially designed instruction and support for students with social-emotional, self-regulation, and learning needs.

This full-time position emphasizes collaboration with families and teachers to promote independence, resilience, and academic success within an inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Valid Maine Certification as a Special Education Teacher (282 or appropriate certification).
• Experience working with primary-aged students with diverse learning and social-emotional needs preferred.
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning, executive functioning, positive behavioral supports, and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction in accordance with student IEPs.
• Deliver individual and small-group instruction targeting social-emotional development and executive functioning.
• Collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to support student independence and success.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with district requirements.
• Supervise Educational Technicians and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
