Job summary

Wilderness Elementary School in Spotsylvania County is seeking a Fourth Grade Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The position starts immediately and is offered as a 10-Month (200 Day) contract with a minimum 7.5 hours per day, plus credit-earning opportunities toward advanced degrees.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree and Virginia teaching license or endorsement, with prior classroom experience preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by Virginia and School Board.
Acceptable rating of prior teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Meets and instructs students in assigned locations and at designated times.
Designs coherent instruction based on subject matter, practices, students, and curriculum goals.
Plans instruction to reflect Virginia Standards of Learning and division guidelines.
Prepares for classes and shows lesson preparation upon request.
Diagnoses needs and plans time, materials, and resources to match student abilities.
Evaluates progress and provides prompt feedback and progress reports.
Uses assessments to inform short- and long-range decisions to improve learning.
Administers standardized tests per procedures.
Documents student learning gains using assessment tools.
