Job summary

Stark County Educational Service Center seeks an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist in North Canton, Ohio to identify and treat communication disorders, ensuring students benefit from our educational program and parental involvement.

You will perform assessments, develop IEP goals, attend meetings, and collaborate with teachers to implement evidence-based therapy for students from birth through adolescence. This role emphasizes licensure compliance and professional conduct.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Ohio Educator License as required by placement or assignment; Ohio Pupil Services Registration considered.
  • Ohio BCI and Federal Background check free of disqualifying infractions.
  • Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
  • Participate in required trainings (Bloodborne Pathogens, Crisis Intervention, Educator Ethics, etc.).
  • Maintain high ethical standards and professional responsibility.
  • Operate Google Applications (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs).
  • Adhere to SCESC policies and licensure code of conduct.
  • Report suspected child abuse to supervisor or authorities as required by law.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Experience working with children birth to 18 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with state, MSP, district, and ESC documentation and timelines.
  • Perform initial and ongoing speech-language assessments and therapy.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify instructional needs.
  • Develop goals for inclusion in the IEP based on student needs.
  • Attend IEP meetings for students with speech/language impairments.
  • Deliver sequential instruction across phonology, articulation, fluency, voice, and language.
  • Monitor intervention efficacy and adjust plans as needed.
  • Coordinate with school personnel to support learning and implement strategies.
  • Provide families with techniques to support at home.
  • Support MTSS through education, screenings, and consultations.
  • Demonstrate understanding of student backgrounds and educational needs.
  • Advocate for access to speech-language services.
  • Manage caseload to align with IEP goals and timelines.
  • Maintain professional communication with families and staff.
  • Contribute to grant planning and program development when requested.
  • Attend department meetings and share knowledge from training.
