Job summary

Advanced Employment Group in California is seeking an Employment Specialist / Job Coach to support adults with IDD in securing and maintaining competitive employment. You will provide job training, coaching, and accommodations, and work with employers to ensure tasks are performed accurately and independently.

This statewide role requires strong communication, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency with MS Office and virtual meeting tools. Travel is required; mileage is reimbursed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Special Education degree or experience; bilingual ability beneficial.
  • Experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Background screening and drug testing required.
  • Travel statewide using personal vehicle; mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Must have a home computer/tablet, smartphone, and reliable internet.
  • Advocacy, counseling, and job coaching skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, Webex, and Google Meet.

Responsibilities

  • Provides person-centered support within the work environment mindful of employer’s needs and mission.
  • Develops plans to assist employees in achieving personal and employment goals.
  • Facilitates appropriate social interactions between participants and other employees at job site.
  • Models productive behavior, encourages independence, and teaches behaviors that lead to personal and professional growth.
  • Develops constructive, cooperative relationships with co-workers.
  • Builds positive rapport to support positive outcomes.
  • Prepares employees for interviews and develops work-related problem-solving approaches.
  • Communicates effectively with AEG staff, employers, and employees.
  • Communicates with employee via various methods, including one-on-one meetings, surveys, group presentations, phone calls, text messages, social-media contacts, or on-site coaching via Zoom, Webex, or Google Meets.
  • Identifies environmental modifications and assistive technologies.
  • Provides travel training and transportation coordination as needed.
  • Accurately collects, records, and reviews employment performance, feedback, and progress records to ensure standards are met.

Job Details: Location: Sacramento, CA; Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time; Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour; Employment Specialist / Job Coach.

This is a professional position that supports adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining competitive employment with local businesses. The role involves providing job training, job coaching, developing and implementing accommodations, and supporting both employee and employer to ensure tasks are performed accurately, effectively, and independently. The position requires building a strong rapport and communication with employee and employer to ensure ongoing success and a mutually beneficial relationship at the work site.

Hourly Rate: $25+ Employment Type: Part Time/Full Time Work Location: Statewide Work
