Job summary

Jobot in Del Mar, California, is seeking a seasoned employment defense attorney to represent employers across all areas of employment law. The role involves handling all facets of litigation, advising on preventative policies, negotiating settlements, and staying current with industry developments.

The ideal candidate has a JD, active California bar status, at least 2 years of civil defense experience, and proven trial advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• Requires Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the state bar.
• Minimum 2 years of civil defense experience.
• Experience in insurance defense and liability.
• Strong litigation skills, including trial advocacy.
• Excellent negotiation abilities and dispute resolution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and projects with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in employment law matters including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage/hour disputes, and workers' compensation.
• Handle all litigation aspects: draft pleadings, conduct discovery, draft and argue motions, participate in trials.
• Provide preventative legal advice: draft policies, conduct workplace investigations, train on employment law issues.
• Negotiate and draft settlement agreements for employers.
• Stay updated on developments in employment law and industry trends.
• Collaborate with legal team to strategize and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities

• 1. Representing employers in all areas of employment law, including but not limited to wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and workers' compensation claims.
• 2. Handling all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing and arguing motions, and participating in trial.
• 3. Providing preventative legal advice to employers, including drafting employment policies and procedures, conducting workplace investigations, and providing training on employment law issues.
• 4. Negotiating and drafting settlement agreements on behalf of employers.
• 5. Staying abreast of current trends, practices, and developments in employment law.
• 6. Collaborating with other members of the legal team to strategize and achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
