Applied Intuition seeks an Employment Counsel to join its growing legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, the role sources as a foundational advisor on global labor and employment matters during rapid expansion.

This temporary, remote-friendly position partners with the People Team and business leaders on the full employee lifecycle and cross-border compliance. You will draft policies, lead investigations, monitor laws, and manage outside counsel while delivering practical training to

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of focused employment law experience.
  • Top-tier law firm training and in-house experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with US federal and California labor laws; global expansion experience a plus.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active US bar membership.
  • Proven ability to provide risk-adjusted, creative solutions to personnel challenges.
  • Ability to deliver tough news with empathy and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting a diverse workforce across software, hardware and field ops.
  • Employment litigation experience.
  • Prior in-house experience at a high-growth tech/robotics/automotive company.
  • Expertise advising US-based companies on international expansion (Germany, Japan, Korea).

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time legal counsel on the full employee lifecycle to People Team and leadership.
  • Draft and maintain handbooks, contracts, offers, leave admin and policies across jurisdictions.
  • Lead or advise on internal investigations with discretion and fairness.
  • Monitor global labor laws and translate developments into scalable workflows.
  • Manage outside counsel for employment disputes and charges, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver training for managers on anti-harassment, interview practices, wage-hour compliance.

Job description

  • We are looking for talented and pragmatic Employment Counsel to join our growing legal team
  • Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will serve as a foundational legal advisor on all global labor and employment matters
  • This high-visibility role requires a candidate who can synthesize rigorous legal analysis with a sophisticated business sense to develop and scale the policies and culture necessary to fuel our rapid global expansion
  • This is a temporary role with flexibility for remote applicants that meet our role requirements
  • Provide real-time legal counsel and best practices to the People Team and business leaders on the full employee lifecycle, including headcount planning, performance management, and complex separations
  • Draft and maintain employee handbooks, employment contracts, offer letters, leave administration and internal policies to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions where we operate
  • Lead or advise on internal investigations into sensitive matters, ensuring they are handled with the utmost discretion and procedural fairness
  • Monitor evolving global labor laws and regulatory mandates, translating complex legal developments into actionable, scalable business workflows
  • Manage outside counsel for employment-related disputes and administrative charges, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality representation
  • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions for managers on topics like anti-harassment, interview best practices, and wage-and-hour compliance

  • Prior in-house experience at a high-growth technology, robotics or automotive company
  • Expertise advising U.S.-based companies on international expansion, specifically within Germany, Japan, or South Korea
