McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in Missouri seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to drive positive employee relations strategies and lead investigations. You will partner with the HR Business Partner to address complaints, conflicts, and performance issues, and educate managers on people leadership skills.

You will develop proactive approaches, maintain documentation, and collaborate with safety teams while ensuring policy compliance across multiple states and locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required with minimum 2 years experience in HR with a focus on Employee and/or Labor Relations.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Specific experience with conflict management and leading through investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of labor, federal and multi-state regulations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build quick relationships across multiple levels.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to solve complex challenges, leveraging solid critical thinking skills.
  • Must navigate sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time throughout the Midwest and nationally as needed

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee relations matters for assigned client groups.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues of employee concern or conflict in an appropriate, compliant, and timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate account of concern or investigation with timely memorialization of notes and documents.
  • Consult with HRBP, Labor & Employment Legal and HR resources to recommend solutions and actions.
  • Provide regular and proactive communication to leaders and relevant parties.
  • Engage in proactive, strategic employee relations by identifying trends and action planning.
  • Apply expertise supporting managers through ADA accommodations processes.
  • Maintain partnership with safety teams to support incidents and referrals.
  • Interpret policies and ensure consistent application.
  • Facilitate field-based training in positive employee practices and relations.
  • Deliver HR solutions through partnerships across HR and business units.
  • Influence managers to reach win/win outcomes and minimize risk.
  • Provide recommendations on promotions and development opportunities.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and make recommendations.
  • Produce and analyze data to support decision making and communicate outcomes.
  • Assist with onboarding, data and reporting as needed.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a talented and professional Employee Relations Specialist. Working collaboratively with the Human Resources Business Partner, this position is essential in driving positive Employee Relations strategies. They are responsible for leading through employee relations matters including employee complaints, investigations, conflict, and performance management, and making recommendations on solutions. They also develop proactive approaches to mitigate challenges and educate managers on people leadership skills. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional passionate about employee relations and looking to leverage their skills within a growing organization.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee relations matters for assigned client groups.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues of employee concern or conflict in an appropriate, compliant, and timely manner. Scope of concerns may be related to code of conduct violations, ethics matters, performance, safety, interpersonal conflict, general conduct, and employment action concerns.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate account of concern or investigation with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents, using the appropriate processes and systems.
  • Consult with the HR Business Partner, Labor & Employment Legal and HR resources, and managers in providing the HR support and employee relations subject matter expertise to recommend solutions and action to resolve employee concerns.
  • Provide regular and proactive communication to Leader and other relevant parties, related to assigned cases.
  • Engage in a proactive, strategic approach to employee relations by identifying trends, recommending solutions that address root-cause of potential issues, and partnering with HR Business Partners on developing and executing action plans.
  • Apply expertise supporting managers and employees through ADA accommodations processes.
  • Maintain a strong partnership with the safety teams to support safety incidents and mandatory referral processes.
  • Effectively interpret policies, processes, and procedures, ensuring consistency in application.
  • Facilitate field-based training in support of positive employee practices and relations.
  • Utilize a customer-focused approach to deliver HR solutions through effective partnerships across the HR department and business unit.
  • Utilize influencing skills with managers to reach win/win outcomes that minimize risk to the company.
  • Provide recommendations on promotions, development opportunities, and participation in learning programs.
  • Conduct employee exit interviews, analyze and capture trends, and make recommendations.
  • Produce, review, and analyze a variety of data to support decision making, share outcomes, and help influence solutions.
  • Assists with general and administrative HR duties as assigned, specifically related to onboarding, data, and reporting.
