Job summary

Denver Public Schools in Colorado is seeking an experienced HR support specialist to handle employee relations tasks, unemployment processing, and post-employment administration while upholding district policies.

You will deliver excellent customer service, maintain documentation accuracy, participate in projects, and help ensure equity and accountability across the district; a strong team culture is emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably related to FMLA.
  • Experience in a union environment and exposure to collective bargaining agreements helpful.
  • Experience with Oracle a plus.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the Employee Relations inbox, updating the Employee Association website, and the audit, reconciliation and processing of invoices.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all customers and stakeholders; reviews and verifies incoming and outgoing documentation for completeness, accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of administrative support duties for team leadership, including data management, word processing and scheduling/coordination of meetings.
  • Determines employee eligibility to be rehired for the District and processes all related requests based on District policy.
  • Coordinates the District’s response to all unemployment claims and works with managers, HR staff and vendors, as appropriate, to ensure accurate and timely communication to involved parties.
  • Participates in project/work group meetings and takes detailed notes; supports current projects and coordinates with the team to keep workflow on track.
  • Reviews collective bargaining agreement changes and ensures changes are accurately portrayed in final agreements.
  • Ensures employee inquiries are answered and/or properly routed in a timely manner.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serves as a backup for co-workers and/or other key business processes, as needed.

What You’ll Need:

  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
