Job summary

Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist within University Health to guide leaders and resolve workplace concerns. This full-time role, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, supports multiple service lines with 40 hours per week.

You will advise on employment policies and foster fair, compliant practices across the organization. As part of the Employee Relations team, you’ll coach leaders, apply knowledge of employment laws, and build strong relationships with HR

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• At least two years of HR experience including conflict resolution, employee relations, employment law, and facilitation.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations (OSHA, EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated ability to coach leaders and support sound business decisions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and relationships.
• Excellent planning and prioritization skills to manage tight deadlines and multiple demands.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, workplace concerns, and employment policies and practices.
• Partner with Employee Relations team to deliver day-to-day HR support to service line leaders across multiple units and locations.
• Assist leaders in navigating employee concerns and resolving workplace issues fairly, consistently, and effectively.
• Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws to support compliant employment practices.
• Coach leaders at all organizational levels to make informed business decisions aligned with policies.
• Use conflict resolution, facilitation, and communication skills to address sensitive workplace situations.
• Build trusted relationships with leaders, employees, and HR partners to gain support and improve outcomes.
• Manage multiple client groups, competing priorities, and time-sensitive matters while adapting to changing needs.
• Work independently, exercise sound judgment, and identify appropriate solutions.
