Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) in Athens, GA to oversee on-track safety for freight railroads and partners. The role emphasizes field safety, coordination, and compliance with railroad policies.

You will set up safety tools, report incidents, maintain clear communication with dispatchers and crews, and travel extensively (50%–85%). Strong organization, training readiness, and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools for coordinating train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to travel for extended periods; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Willingness to complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as setting up derails, track signs, and other safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise, and thorough job briefings with all crew before entering the track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.

Job Description:

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Job Requirements:

• Requires proficiency in the use of tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to support coordination of train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way department
• Ability to successfully complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.
