Job summary

T E C Industrial is seeking an Emissions Specialist to support emissions data acquisition, setup, calibration, and operation of monitoring systems in an industrial setting. You will work with instruments like chemiluminescence, paramagnetic, infrared, and GC/MS to measure emissions and fuel constituents.

The role involves hands-on instrument operation, calibration records, and assisting on 1st/2nd shifts. A technical degree and strong safety/process knowledge are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a technical field is required.
  • Strong knowledge of pressurized sampling systems and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to handle pressurized gas safely and follow ISO procedures.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience with meters/instrumentation (DMM, oscilloscope, waveform gens).
  • Proficient with Windows and MS Office.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, validate and operate emissions equipment and sampling systems.
  • Measure gaseous emissions from gas turbines and combustion systems; measure fuel gas constituents.
  • Collect gas and liquid fuel samples as required.
  • Support first or second shift test operations.

EMISSIONS SPECIALIST
Summary:

The Emissions Specialist will p erform a wide variety of duties involving facilitating the process of setup, calibration, and operation of data acquisition systems. The systems used for this process include Access, Excel, and graphics software to capture data resulting from testing in an industrial setting.

Job Description

  • Setup, validate and operate emissions equipment and sampling systems to measure emissions from gas turbines and combustion systems and also measure fuel gas constituents.
  • Instruments include, but not limited to, chemiluminescence, paramagnetic, infrared, flame ionization type of instruments as well as gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer.
  • Equipment is used to measure, but not limited to, gaseous emissions of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, unburned hydrocarbons, oxygen, water vapor, volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde, smoke, etc., and fuel gas constituents such as hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, ethane, propane, butane, etc.
  • Collect gas and liquid fuel and exhaust gas samples when required.
  • Ability to support 1 st or 2 nd shift test operations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Associate of Science degree in a related technical area.
  • Strong knowledge of pressurized sampling systems and strong troubleshooting skills (mechanical aptitude).
  • Strong comprehension of pressurized gas handling procedures and safety awareness.
  • Experience in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Hands-on experience using Multi-meters, Waveform generators, Oscilloscope.
  • Knowledge of ISO and safety awareness. Need to know safe handling of pressurized gas cylinders and have a basic understanding of flammable, non-flammable, and hazardous chemicals such as carbon monoxide, methane, propane, and others. ISO compliance in following procedures and maintaining documentation for items such as equipment calibrations, M&TE tracking forms, and test checklists.
  • Proficient in Windows Operating systems and MS Office.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record as problem solver and capable of creative and innovative technical solutions.
Preferred:
  • BS degree in Engineering.
  • Product Knowledge of GE Gas Turbines and combustion systems.
  • Experienced with instrumentation used in development testing of gas turbines and combustion systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emissions measurement instrumentation, analyzers and testing.
  • Strong knowledge on emissions analyzers and fuel sampling systems, which consist of pipe and stainless steel and Teflon tubing, heated sampling lines and controllers, manual and automatic valves, regulators, flow meters, pumps, filters, water separators, chillers (sample conditioning), compression fittings, and other similar equipment.
  • Familiar with government agencies (such as EPA) and government test methods.
