Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a sUAS Operations Support to assist with setup, maintenance, and transport of unmanned systems used for inspecting utility infrastructure. You will support flight planning, data handling, and safety compliance while working under certified pilots.

The role requires organizational and communication skills, willingness to travel to field sites, and a valid driver’s license, with growth potential into a pilot role after FAA Part 107 certification.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in aviation, engineering, or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of sUAS technology and safety practices.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel to field sites.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sUAS setup, maintenance, and transport.
• Support pre-flight planning and post-flight data organization.
• Manage batteries, sensors, and basic troubleshooting.
• Organize and archive aerial imagery and inspection data.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and assist in documentation.
