Job summary

VCA California Veterinary Specialists in Ontario, CA is a leading 24-hour Emergency and Specialty hospital seeking a skilled veterinary technician to join a fast-paced team. You will monitor patients, assist with anesthesia, and manage critical cases with a focus on safety and precision.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, IV catheter placement, central lines and urinary catheter care, in-house lab work, and accurate dosage calculations.

Qualifications

• Experience with venipuncture and IV catheter placement on critical patients.
• Anesthetic induction and monitoring of sensitive and critically ill patients.
• Experience with specialized equipment care and willingness to learn.
• Strong care experience with urinary catheters, central lines, and nasal gastric tubes.
• Solid math skills for CRI and dose calculations.
• Ability to run in-house labs and send samples to outside labs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and treat patients requiring intensive management and report changes to the Doctor.
• Assist with anesthesia induction and monitoring in critical cases.
• Manage specialized equipment and learn new skills as needed.
• Care for urinary catheters, central lines, and nasal gastric tubes.
• Perform in-house lab work and coordinate external lab submissions.
• Be detail-oriented and spot discrepancies in patient care.
• Work productively with minimal supervision.
