Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Jacksonville, FL is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our busy Emergency Department. A sign-on bonus up to $3,000 is available, with pay ranging from $20 to $40 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Technician in an emergency setting (implied).
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and vital signs.
• Competence in performing phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.
• Proficiency with digital radiography and CPR in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive, obtaining vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure).
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges and alert the Veterinarian to changes.
• Interpret blood pressure and other vitals and report changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications appropriately.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and feeding tubes; manage central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.
